Region X Safety and Health Outreach Award

CH2M-WG Idaho, LLC, Batelle Energy Alliance, and the Department of Energy Idaho Operation have joined together to share their safety culture by providing School Safety Assemblies to Elementary Schools in the communities of southeastern Idaho.  Volunteers from the three companies take safety topics to the schools.  They provide ten different safety topics to each class during the school day requiring the different topics to be presented as many as ten different times.  Not only does this activity provide valuable safety information to the students and teachers, it saves the school gas money that would be spent if travel was involved to transport the students to a central location.  During 2009, this activity touched the lives of over 1000 elementary students.
