2010 Region X VPPPA Annual Conference

We are very excited to announce the 2010 Region X VPPPA Annual Conference is now open for registration. The Conference will be held on May 11- 13, 2010. Probably the most exciting part is that for the first time ever, we will be traveling ‘North to Alaska’ for the Region X Annual Conference. The beautiful city of Anchorage will be our landing point. The memorable attractions of our 49th state combined with the outstanding outline of workshops and speaker s that is scheduled for the conference will certainly make this one of the best yet.

Important Information:

It has been brought to the attention of Region X VPPPA that union workers at the Anchorage Sheraton Hotel are currently negotiating their labor contract with management. This negotiationmay or may not be resolved before our health and safety conference. Please consider this as you are deciding to attend the conference and before making travel plans. If you are interested in learning more about this contract negotiation please contact:

OSHA’s VPP Will Continue to Thrive

FALLS CHURCH, VA – The Voluntary Protection Programs Participants’ Association, Inc. (VPPPA) released a video message (http://www.vpppa.org/pubs/EDMessage.cfm) today, February 4, 2010, in response to concerns about the future of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s (OSHA) Voluntary Protection Programs (VPP). President Obama’s recently released proposed budget for fiscal year 2011 and an ensuing live chat by Secretary of Labor Hilda L. Solis and OSHA Assistant Secretary Dr. David Michaels raised questions among VPP participants, which the association aims to address.

VPP participants are a select group of facilities that have designed and implemented outstanding health and safety programs. Management, labor and government work together to establish a cooperative relationship at a workplace that has implemented a strong program in VPP.
